Brown Paper Approach
Does this sound familiar? Somebody boots up a laptop, lowers the lights and starts talking through a huge process diagram, operational chart or complex implementation plan …. everybody’s attention starts to wander. It’s difficult to concentrate and feel real involvement and ownership.
i-Realise (formerly Itim Consulting) has a practical, flexible approach to working with customers and supporting the delivery of key programmes and initiatives.
Typical of this is our ‘brown paper’ which many of our customers associate with us. This is a key tool in facilitations, workshops and planning sessions. Rolls of brown paper with post it notes and blu tack for key documents are placed around the meeting room walls to map out key processes, timelines, project plans etc. The real benefits of this approach are its accessibility and flexibility which means everybody can get involved in moving things around, making changes and adding ‘their stuff’. It gets everybody involved, active and helps make buy in and communication so much easier.
Then, when it’s all agreed, all the content gets put into the right kind of documentation to publish and pass round. Our customers feel a great sense of ownership of these outputs and many have them put up in central areas or offices so they can live on and become an integral part of the working environment. Alternatively, some prefer to keep this output as a ‘live’ working document that is updated and revised as appropriate.
